Scott Mauro is an award-winning executive producer and creator of live events and television specials. Before establishing his own production company in 1993, Scott Mauro Entertainment, Inc., Mauro was Director of Network Specials for Walt Disney Television serving as executive producer and creative director on all of Disney’s NBC specials. Since starting SME, Mauro has served as executive producer, creator, director and consultant on many of the entertainment industry’s most star-studded award galas, concerts and live television specials.
Mauro is currently represented on Broadway with the smash hit new musical, Priscilla: Queen of the Desert at the Palace Theatre.
Some of Mauro’s credits as event producer include: Museum of the Moving Image 2011 Salute to Alec Baldwin, The Environmental Media Awards for the past three years; The Princess Grace Awards for the past seven years; The Woman’s Day Red Dress Awards at Lincoln Center for the past three years; The Richard Rodgers Centennial; UNICEF’s Inaugural Gala celebrating 50 Years of Celebrity Advocacy; Norman Lear’s Spirit of Liberty Awards; The Palm Springs Film Festival Awards; Santa Barbara Film Festival Awards; The Fulfillment Fund Awards; Operation Smile’s Annual Smile Gala; Oscar De La Hoya’s 2006 Night of Champions Gala; the 16th & 17th Annual Producer’s Guild Awards; Dreamgirls – The 20th Anniversary Reunion Concert; the 20th Anniversary of Hair at the United Nations and many others.
For television, he served as Executive Producer and Packager on The 7th and 8th Annual Soap Update Awards for Lifetime TV and Rosemary Clooney’s Golden Anniversary: An All-Star Tribute for A&E. Mauro served as a production and creative consultant on numerous award winning television specials including the 40th , 50th, 51st and 52nd annual Tony Awards for CBS; Night of 100 Stars I, II and III at Radio City; Liza’s at the Palace for PBS; Cher Live at the Mirage for CBS; Diana Ross Live in Central Park for Showtime; and Parade of Stars at the Palace Theater for ABC.
Over the years Mauro has successfully integrated the very best talent into the events he’s helmed and produced. Mauro worked as Executive Producer and Creative Director on Disney’s special, The Grand Opening of the Disney/MGM Studios, which took home two Emmy Awards. Mauro also earned an Emmy Nomination as writer and producer for the PBS special, The Whimsical World of Oz. His production of the 2008 Environmental Media Awards was honored as one of the “Top 100 Events of the Year” by Bizbash Magazine. The Larry King Cardiac Foundation’s King of Heart’s Gala produced by Mauro in 2007 won “Event of the Year” from BizBash Magazine. Most recently, NBC TV cited the MOMI 2011 Salute to Alec Baldwin as “ Event of the Year” in New York City.
